Historic Carondolet Guided Bike Tour - August 9, Saturday

Meet: Bellerive Park at 8:00 a.m. (S. Broadway & Bates, St. Louis MO)

Join our expert guides for a pleasant ride through one of St. Louis' little known and out-of-the-way historic neighborhoods.  Bring your own water and spare tubes. Ride includes frequent stops  to take in the neighborhood's rich history and architectural heritage. Helmet required.

Moonlight Ramble - August 16 & 17

Presented by Gateway Council Hostelling International, this is St. Louis' oldest and largest night time bike ride (and possibly our largest bike ride, period.) The St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation will have a booth at the pre-ride festival area so stop by and get your blinking lobster! Limited quantities so don't miss it! Tuesdays with a Twist:
Guided Bicycle Tour of New McKinley Bridge Bikeway - August 19
Time: 6:00 - 8:15 pm
Route: About 7 miles
Terrain: Mostly flat except for the climb up the trestle
Features:
Complete the route on your own (map provided) or join the group- led tour that includes stops for historical and architectural interpretation including the new Trestle at Branch Street and McKinley Bridge Bikeway; the last stop is Crown Candy (buy your own) and finishes before dark. Helmets are required on this tour.
Meet and Start: Branch Street Rest Station – on the Riverfront Trail at Branch St.

"Birds, Butterflies, Buzzes and Buds"

Meet:  8:00 a.m. Columbia Bottom Conservation Area Visitors' Center

Join us with naturalist, musician, educator, cyclist, and lifelong birder Bob Bailey to look and listen in detail to the wonders of this wild land between the rivers.  Bring your own water, snack, spare tubes, and bug spray. Helmet required.

East St. Louis Architectural Tour - October 5

Meet:  9:00 a.m. at Kiener Plaza, downtown St. Louis, MO

We'll head straight for the Eads Bridge to cross the Mississippi and learn about the unique history of East St. Louis, Illinois by visiting significant architectural and historic sites. Includes a stop outside the Katherine Dunham mansion. Check back in late August for more details.

 


The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Ride to Cure Diabetes
This program is returning to Death Valley and three other spectacular locations this year, and Team St. Louis would like you to join the fun. Riders help raise money to cure Type-1 diabetes.

The JDRF 2008 Ride to Cure Diabetes schedule:
Sonoma, CA -- June 26-29 (registration now open!)
Asheville, NC -- Aug. 8 - 10
Whitefish, MT -- Sept 11 - 14
Death Valley, CA -- Oct 16-19
